A lock that sticks, spins, or broke? We repair it, or put in a new one when it is worn out.
Should I repair the lock or replace it?
A lot of locks just need a cleaning, a new spring, or a strike plate that lines up with the bolt again. When the lock body is worn or cracked, a new lock is the better call. We look at it with you and tell you what we would do on our own door.
When people call us for this
- The key turns hard or only works at a certain angle.
- The deadbolt does not reach the hole in the frame.
- The cylinder spins and nothing happens.
- The knob or lever came loose or fell off.
- You simply want a better lock than the one you have.
What kind of locks do you put in?
Deadbolts, mortise locks, knob and lever sets, and high security cylinders. We carry hardware from brands like Schlage, Yale, and Sargent, and we fit the lock to your door and your building.
How do I get started?
Call us, or text a photo of the lock from the outside and the edge of the door. That tells us most of what we need. You get a written quote before any work starts.
Frequently asked
Can you keep my current keys?
If we repair the lock, your keys keep working. If we replace it, you get new keys with the new lock.
Do you fix old locks in pre-war doors?
Yes. Old mortise locks are common around Gramercy, and we repair them when the parts are still good.
